Trinity Episcopal Church Fishkill

Lectors

Trinity’s lectors are parishioners who rise from the congregation during the church service to read the Old and New Testament scripture lessons.

Lectors engage in an important ministry. When a lesson is read during our worship, the lector is participating in a Christian tradition that began over 5000 years ago with the Hebrews. The oral tradition of preserving their history through storytelling ultimately became the collection of writings we call the Old Testament. We continue this tradition just as Christ did when he taught by telling parables.

At Trinity Church we have helpful parishioners who read scripture on a volunteer basis at the 10 AM services. New readers are always welcome. Reading lessons is a blessing on the lector and on the listeners. Come join us!
