Music
Music is an important part of the 10 AM liturgy at Trinity. It is woven throughout the service with abundant opportunity for the congregation to participate in the singing of hymns and service music. The choir has a special role to lead the congregational singing and also to offer an anthem for the glory of God. All music is chosen according to the seasons of the Church Year and the Scriptures appointed for the day. Different styles and types of music are used as well.
Trinity is blessed with a number of young people and adults who play musical instruments. Their talents add richness to our worship. We also have a set of choir chimes that are used occasionally. The goal of all music in the church is to bring glory to God and to help each of us, whether participant or listener, to come closer to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Minister of Music, Beverly Simmons, came to us in March 2007 after serving at Zion Parish in Wappingers Falls for seven years. Before that, she ministered on Long Island in two different parishes for more than twenty years. Beverly holds a Master's degree in Sacred Music from Union Seminary in New York City and has been active in church music for almost 40 years. Here at Trinity she plays the organ for the 10 AM Sunday service and any other feast days requiring music. She also conducts the adult choir, which rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7 PM in the Parish Hall. More singers are always welcome; we would very much like the group to expand. Beverly can be reached by email at musicattrinity@verizon.net.
