A CELEBRATION OF 250 YEARS OF SERVICE
TO GOD AND OUR COMMUNITY
It was a wonderful year and celebration. Many thanks to all involve and especially to the coordinator.
Earlier Events
February 26 An Open Hearth Cooking demonstration and dinner, with classical music, at Mt. Gulian Historic Site – circa 1730 – from 1-6 pm.
March 19 Authentic Evensong Service, in the manner of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, 4pm, followed by a light snack in the Parish Hall.
April 2 “Art in Food and Food in Art” slide show about Dutch colonial food, by Peter Rose, 2pm in the Church, followed by treats and beverages at 20 Main Street House. All citizens are welcome.
April 22 & 23 A Special Town Meeting with Mr. Thomas Jefferson, a patriot from Virginia, with a discussion of his views on the Declaration of Independence and Religious Freedoms in these United States.
May 20 & 21 A Revolutionary War Camp on Trinity Church grounds, with the 5th New York Regiment and 3rd Ulster Militia, the Hudson Valley Ramblers, Dr. Peter Middleton an 18th century surgeon, Mr. Bayly an 18th century magician, Mr. Kern a blacksmith and Mr. Taylor a cooper.
June 11 Trinity’s 250th Anniversary Celebration, on Trinity Sunday, with the Right Reverend Mark Sisk, Bishop of New York presiding.
July 4 A Celebration of the Fourth of July – An 11 am reading of the Declaration of Independence at Van Wyck Hall, in cooperation with the Village of Fishkill, followed by a 12:30 lecture at the church by Professor Tom Lewis, author of The Hudson: A History. He will speak about “Religion and Tolerance in the Hudson Valley”. There is no cost for any of these events. A free lunch and beverages for the public will follow in the Parish House.
July 29/30 A Colonial Campout for the Children of Trinity, with story teller and folk singer.September 23 A Publick Debate between Mr. Patrick Henry of Virginia and Mr. James Wilson of Pennsylvania on the Choice of Whether to Ratify the Constitution of the United States. 8pm in the church.
October 14 A Colonial Harvest Festival for the Trinity parish family, featuring the fish, fowl, game, produce and sweets of Dutchess County, prepared in the 18th century manner. Mr. Bayly will perform magic during the evening.
November 12 An Authentic 1789 Worship Service, presided by Bishop Herbert Donovan, to which every citizen is welcome.December 24 & 25 A Colonial Christmas
