Ministries

Trinity Haiti Partnership

Trinity's mission with Haiti began with the work of some very dedicated and committed parishioners in an endeavor to assist in the building of a school in the village of Chermaitre through the sale of Haitian art. We have partnered with the Vassar College Haiti Project to host art sales and raise awareness of the deep needs of this impoverished nation.

The Trinity Haiti Partnership was officially formed in 2008. The mission is:

  1. to assist in educating members of the parish with regard to the overall global mission and ministry with the people of the village of Chermaitre, Haiti and how this coincides with Christian stewardship;
  2. to enlist volunteers for help with various events that will support the overall mission work with the people of Chermaitre;
  3. to coordinate events to be held at Trinity that support this mission;
  4. to identify alternative venues for a wide array of opportunities for Trinity parish members to participate in supporting the people of Chermaitre.

In September of 2008, we witnessed the fruits of our labors when a new school in Chermaitre opened its doors to students. The Vassar Haiti Project continues to fund school supplies, teachers' salaries, uniforms, and a lunch program.

Through the initial efforts of the VHP, a clinic was also established and currently a doctor is visiting the village four days a month to treat patients. This is the first time many have ever seen a doctor.

The prayers, hands, hearts and talents of those involved in this mission outreach are making a difference in the lives of many. And we are blessed by the opportunity.

Rural & Migrant Ministry

Trinity has several opportunities to participate with the Rural & Migrant Ministry as they provide day and overnight camps for the children of area migrant workers. These camps can be the experience of a lifetime for some 200 deserving children and youth. Day camp is held during designated weeks in July and area churches are invited to provide the ingredients for a full lunch for one day of camp during the session. The overnight camp is held for one week during the month of August at Camp Kutz in Warwick, and Trinity parishioners donate new beach towels and water bottles for the campers.

House of Hope

The House of Hope shelter, located in Fishkill, is part of the House of Faith Ministry, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of hurting women who have been victims of domestic violence. Directed by Minister Luader Smith, who lost a family member to abuse, the House provides a safe haven for victims and provides counseling, child care, transportation and support for court appearances, and a hot line for women in crisis.

Volunteers may find themselves shopping, cooking, cleaning, holding a baby while a mother cooks a meal, answering the hotline, issuing supplies to shelter residents, moving belongings, accompanying women to the Department of Social Services, running errands, doing clerical tasks, sorting donations, providing the local community with information and education on abuse, or providing socialization for mothers and their children.
